I was born in New Jersey and quickly moved to the Washington
DC area. I lived in the DC area for about 25 years. For the vast majority of that time I literally lived in Arcola. My dad designed and built our house which was built underground.
I went to high school at Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, Virginia. I participated in football, baseball, and wrestling.
I attended college at Shepherd College (Now Shepherd University) in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. When I graduated I was tested and was rated in the top 5% in the nation in math. (Not bragging, just a fact!)
After college I began my teaching career at Frost Intermediate School in Fairfax, Virginia. I taught there for 5 years and won the Edythe May Sliffe Award for distinguished mathematics teaching for the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is more importantly where I met my wife. We were married June 5th, 2005.
In the summer of 2005 my wife and I moved to Ohio to be closer to her family. We settled in Lebanon because it was very close to my wife's grandmother. We were blessed to get to spend about 3 years with her here.
I taught at Amelia High School in Batavia for the first 3 years we lived in Ohio. When gas prices soared I applied to work at the Warren County Career Center. Thankfully, I was hired here in 2008 and have been teaching here ever since.
I became the Warren County Joint Vocational School Teachers' Association president in 2011. It sounds good but is not the most entertaining responsibility I have ever taken on.
Here is the most important part:
My first son, Joe, was born on February 28th, 2007.
My second son, Sam, was born on April 7th, 2009.
My one and only daughter was born August 17th, 2010.
